VERDANT APPOINTS 3RD PORTFOLIO MANAGER

Sevenoaks, Kent, 3rd February 2009 – Continuing business expansion has led municipal recycling, refuse and cleansing specialist Verdant (www.verdant-group.co.uk) to appoint Dave Kenney as the company’s third contract portfolio manager.

Recent contract wins, such as the joint recycling, refuse and cleansing contract for South Oxfordshire District Council and the Vale of White Horse District Council, as well as contract and service extensions granted by other council customers, spurred a reorganisation of Verdant’s management team.

Former portfolio manger David Maidman was subsequently promoted to operations director, and Kenney recruited to oversee Verdant’s contracts with Surrey Heath, Gosport, Rother, Swale and Kent. An early task will be planning operations and mobilising resources for rolling out a major eight year service extension at Surrey Heath Borough Council in September: this will include weekly food waste collection and a much expanded commingled recycling collection service.

Kenney joined Verdant in January from SITA where he was contract manager at Epping. Prior to then, he had held a number of positions with Oakley Waste Management, SITA and Onyx. He holds a Certificate of Professional Competence in road transport, and a Certificate of Technical Competence in non-hazardous and hazardous waste.

Verdant managing director Roger Edwards said: “I’m very pleased to have found a manager of Dave’s calibre and am certain he will flourish in Verdant’s can-do culture. His experience and practical insights will be invaluable for effectively managing a number of important council contracts, and ensuring our service delivery is everything that officers, councillors and residents require.”
