VERDANT PROMOTES MAIDMAN TO OPERATIONS DIRECTOR

Sevenoaks, Kent, 29th September 2008 – Municipal services specialist Verdant Group today announced that David Maidman has been promoted to operations director, joining the company’s management board with effect from 1st October.

He was previously one of Verdant’s trio of contract portfolio managers, responsible for operational service delivery and quality, and negotiating contract variations and extensions with a number of Verdant’s 24 local authority customers, primarily in the south and south east.

In 2002, Maidman joined Verdant as contract portfolio manager after spending nearly 20 years managing large multi-discipline teams in the contract catering and vending industries.

Managing director Roger Edwards said Maidman’s promotion reflected Verdant’s continuing growth. “Since joining the Greenstar UK family last year, “ he explained, “we’ve taken on five more local authority contracts, including a significant roll-out at Stratford-upon-Avon, and have negotiated a number of additional contracted services for  other customers.

“I took the decision to expand our lean management structure so that we could continue delivering high quality recycling, waste and cleansing services, and David was the natural choice to become operations director.”

He added that a particular Maidman achievement was implementing Verdant’s management systems, so helping the company gain all three ISO standards. He has recently achieved a NEBOSH Level 3 certificate in occupational health and safety, and is a WAMITAB CoTC holder.
